Technical Introduction: 9CrSi Material Shearing Machine Blades
Mar 19, 2026
9CrSi remains a dominant choice in the shearing machine market and among end-users due to its exceptional cost-performance ratio. However, 9CrSi is highly sensitive to overheating during the quenching process. If the surface carbon content drops to 0.6%–0.7% due to decarburization, the
shearing blade may still achieve a surface hardness of HRC 60–62, but its flexural strength (bending strength) will plummet by 40%–50%.
To address this,
Licheng Knife has implemented a specialized "Zero-Holding Time Quenching & Toughening" process based on extensive experimental data. By minimizing the residence time of the blades in the heating furnace, we significantly reduce oxidation and surface decarburization.
